Hey there. I’m looking for a lovely flatmate to move into the second double bedroom of the ground floor flat I’m living in. The room is partly furnished (there’s a wardrobe, some chest of drawers, bedside tables and a bedframe – no mattress, though) and has direct access to the large garden behind the house. It could be unfurnished, if you got your own furniture.
The flat is quiet and clean – 2 mins walk from Chalkwell beach, approx. 12 mins walk from Chalkwell and Westcliff station.
There is a garage that can be used for all kinds of DIY things or to keep your car safe, if you have one. That said, there’s also an extra parking space in front of the house.
There’s a small extra bedroom that we can share as a storage space or guest room. The bathroom has a tub and the kitchen is fairly big – great for cooking dinner together every now and then. I already got a fridge, oven and washing machine, so no need for you to bring them.
As a special bonus, I can throw in some amazing neighbours. We have BBQs together and help each other out where we can. For instance, I look after an elderly neighbour and her cat, keeping her company and taking out her rubbish every week. That’s the kind of house we are.
By the way, I’m Marie, 45, a freelance graphic designer, originally from Germany. I work from home most days. I’m an open-minded, laid-back rock chick who likes to keep to herself and socialise in equal measure.
I’m looking for someone who’s got all the good flatmate traits: professional with a good income, so the Live-in landlord will approve you, open-minded and fair, pays rent and bills on time, talks fairly about things and makes compromises when necessary, does their fair share of housework and looks after the place, is friendly and works on a good atmosphere with me – just generally a responsible and friendly person. It would be great to find someone who I can be good friends with. Forward-thinking, empathetic people have a bonus. I don’t think I could live with someone who reads the Daily Mail and voted Brexit. I don’t care what gender, sexuality or race you are, just be lovely and pay the rent. 😉
There will be occasional parties but nothing out of the ordinary. Most of the time I like to have some peace and quiet. I like cleaning but I’m not obsessive about it either. Everything in balance.
The rent and bills are split 50/50. Your cut would be:
Rent – £425
Council tax* – £65
Gas/energy* – £35
Water* – £25
Phone and internet* – £17
= roughly £570 a month
*These prices are based on the payments of the past couple of years. Chances are they might be going up slightly. We’ll work that out together. Maybe it’s time to switch suppliers.
The deposit is a month’s rent (£425) which should be paid as soon as the Live-in landlord approves the tenancy. Please make sure you have references lined up from your current employer and Live-in landlord to keep the new Live-in landlord/estate agent happy. Unfortunately, no animals are allowed (but there are plenty of neighbourhood cats to pet and squirrels to feed in the garden).
The official move-in/contract date is 8 April but I’m sure I can be flexible about the practical side of moving in (maybe the weekend before works better for you).
If you are interested, please call me. Chances are I’m not gonna pick up emails right away.
PS: These photos don’t do the flat justice. Come over and have a look at it!
