Hello! I’m looking for a new housemate for a large double room in a shared house. The room is unfurnished but the rest of the house is fully furnished.
The house is on the outskirts of St Agnes. The local beach is just a short walk away plus all the lovely walks and scenery living by the coast has to offer. St Agnes is a lovely village with quite a vibrant and creative local scene, coffee shops, pubs, local veg shop and butchers. It has a large surfing, swimming and watersports community. I feel very lucky to be living here and I care for the house as if it were my own, so I’m hoping to find a housemate who feels the same.
Things to consider:
– You will need to go on a joint tenancy and be registered on the council tax
– There is a resident cat. I inherited him from the previous tenant, he loves attention and will want to explore your room if you don’t keep your door closed. He’s an outdoor cat so there are no stinky litter trays in the house. If you’re not keen on cats or you’re allergic then this isn’t the house for you, sorry.
– This is a long term let (rare in Cornwall!) with a minimum 12 months. Good if you’re looking for a bit of security for a while. I’ve been here 4 years now and have a good relationship with the landlord.
– Life is easier if you have a car, there are buses but I’m told they’re not always reliable and the route times are long.
I’m young at heart and like to be sociable but I’m not a party person anymore, I tend to go to bed early and get up early these days! I currently have two part-time jobs so my work times can be irregular. I’ve always lived in shared accom so I’m quite laid back but respectful, and I’m looking for the same in my new housemate. I like music, books, culture, creativity, circus arts, food, generally being outdoors and I’ve just begun growing some veg in pots. I have liberal left views and like to think I’m socially and environmentally conscious. I’m not a big TV watcher but don’t mind the odd film or documentary, and have been known to binge a series now and then. I’d rather listen to the radio or a podcast.
I’m looking for a housemate who’s experienced in communal living and has some awareness of their impact on the environment, in particular water and electricity usage etc as it helps to keep the bills down. The house has a shared kitchen, bathroom, downstairs toilet, utility room, two living rooms, front and back gravelled gardens, a garage and off road parking for two cars. As tenants we are responsible for keeping both house and garden clean and tidy, so you must be willing to do your share of this. The garden just needs basic weeding every now and then, unless you want to do more. There are tools here for this. In the summer the back garden is quite a suntrap, so nice to sit in for a cuppa 🙂
