Rural house-share in co-op community
Private lodgings, in partly shared home, a ‘micro’ community, within a community …
In the home, independence and privacy as well as friendship, support, a mini-tribe. On the doorstep, neighbourliness and community.
I am looking for long term lodgers (short term will be considered) in rural Derbyshire, in a privately owned barn conversion, at Earth Heart Housing Co-operative (acceptance by the community is required). The house is left of the property currently for sale on the “Diggers and Dreamers” website, and our own website.
There are 2 private upstairs rooms available for a 1st lodger, with versatile ‘studio’ type layout. Eg Large room as bedsit, plus small room as mini-kitchen/dining, or however you’d prefer, and mini private garden (shared bathroom downstairs). An additional similar space will also be available for a 2nd lodger downstairs. Possible shared spaces in house and in gardens.
I live mostly in a neighbouring annexe. I (and visiting family and friends) will continue to use the main house bathroom, any shared rooms downstairs, as well as one private room (this could be used for lodgers’ visitors too).
There can be a rent / work arrangement, depending on compatibility of needs (my needs being for a range of practical tasks such as DIY and a range of ‘care and support’ tasks, since I have significant long term mental health conditions).
I value living in Earth Heart Housing Co-operative, with its friendly neighbourliness, shared land and community activities, but over the 25 years since I made my home here, it has evolved, moving away from my personal ideal of “community”. To counter that change, my home can evolve into a ‘microcosm’ version of the community’s ‘road not taken’. I need re-inspiring to keep my dreams alive, so I’m looking for good people to share the journey with. Private areas of the home, alongside a sense of sharing a home together. Private lives, alongside sharing parts of our lives. Independence, alongside mutual support and the forging of friendship and community.
Transport- a car is usually needed unless you are a very enthusiastic cyclist. Public transport is not close or regular.
