Secret Garden Flat in Hackney
The Room: it is small but it is south facing (sunny), looks out onto the communal garden and warm. It is partly furnished, you will need to buy or bring your own bed and mattress. The dimensions are 2.6m x 3.2m.
The House : two bedrooms, one bathroom, one living room, one kitchen and a secure boot room where you can just squeeze two bikes. Lots of cupboard space. Aside from your bedroom, the place is fully furnished.
Communal areas in the house kept clean please. If one of us gets into a creative whirl or if things get busy, I totally get that things slip but generally I like it clean and airy – let’s be a team. One of life’s pleasures is to share food – and it keeps food waste to a minimum! I’d be delighted if you would like this too. There are many jars of spices, condiments and nuts in the cupboards – my idea is that we share these. The living room after work hours is for socialising and creating things. I’m up for occasionally watching a film together (not a shit one please) with a glass of good wine from the french place down the road. There is a huge communal garden at the front, which needs love and is also perfect for sunbathing in when the weather is good. If you like bbq’s and the odd garden party, this place is for you!
Your New Flatmate: I’m an architect from New Zealand who came here ten years ago with the idea that I’d stay for a year. I have one lil black cat who thinks she is a monkey. She’s shy but will warm to you if you are gentle with her. One will usually find me cooking, sketching, bouldering, designing land art (think XR) or out with friends. I WFH most days in the living room – if you do the same, let’s talk and sort out a compromise. I’m a foodie who loves to try new places in East London – I hope you feel the same! I like to go out and hear new jazz gigs and dance, as there is an excellent community here in Hackney. I like to try and live the eco-friendly life and would absolutely love someone like-minded who will help keep meat eating, plastics and food waste to a minimum. I also enjoy nuturing the garden and trying to bring the bees and birds into the place.
My New Flatmate: A fun loving housemate who is curious about the world will be very welcome. If you’ve got a partner, they are also welcome to come for the odd evening and join us for dinner etc. Ever fancied growing your own veg after paying £8 for an artichoke? Come and see this place, let’s see if we click!
