I live on the first floor, sharing only the front door and washing machine with my downstairs tenant. Whilst I don’t seek a social relationship, and expect mutual respect for privacy, I feel that ability to communicate on the same wavelength, awareness of each other’s needs, and willingness to share some responsibilities are essential to happy house sharing.
