The house is a mid-terraced house in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. The house is managed by a charity called HIMLIT (Himalayan Literacy and Education Support Fund). There are two bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) both with showers, the upstairs bathroom also includes a bath. There is also a large lounge/dining area, kitchen, lean-to, and garden to share. In the garden, there is a washing line available and some garden furniture to use. We have a gardener come during the spring and summer to cut the grass and trim the hedges. Monthly bills are £133 per person and include:
* Gas/electricity/water
* Council tax (Band C)
* Broadband package
* TV license
* Gardener
Bills are split equally among the three tenants, with HIMLIT contributing one-quarter towards the council tax bill.
There is a Tesco Express right around the corner, within a 2-minute walk from the house. We are also situated on the number 1 bus route, which goes down to the bus station and is regular (approx. every 20 mins) throughout the day. If parking is required, it is free on-street parking.
The room available is a single bedroom at the back of the house. This room overlooks the spacious back garden. Furnishings are usually provided by the tenants, not the landlady or HIMLIT. However, the current tenant is prepared to leave the bed, bedside table, and a small desk in the room if wanted. And there is also a set of shelves fixed to one of the walls. (You would need to provide anything else though.)
Apple and I (Kate) are the current tenants. We both work for the University of Bath. I work in admin within the careers department at the University and Apple works in Accommodation Services. I’m in my early 40s and Apple is in her mid-30s.
I’m a Christian and I attend a church called Freedom Centre UK in Bath. Apple is from Thailand and has the Buddhist faith.
As a house, we tend to cook for ourselves the majority of the time due to different work schedules, but we do try and make time to do a shared meal together every so often. Apple is a wonderful cook and loves to make Thai food which she often willingly shares with the rest of the house (yum!).
I am an arty/creative person and I enjoy drawing and painting in my spare time. I also enjoy playing board games. We both enjoy watching films (Disney+ mostly). We currently have a third lady (Nicola) living with us who is moving out at the end of February to get married.
We are looking for a female housemate, someone who is easy-going and who is happy to lend a hand with keeping the shared spaces of the house clean and tidy. We feel that the house is a warm and friendly environment so it would be great to have someone who is equally friendly and up for hanging out together (even just occasionally).
