Room for rent in
London
N16 7AA
Large, sunny double room, Mon–Fri let, Stoke Newington
We have a sunny, high-ceilinged and very large double room in an owner-occupied garden maisonette (Victorian conversion) for a Monday-to-Friday lodger. Currently furnished with the basics, but large enough that you could bring in more storage, another chair or sofa, etc. The room is on the first floor, above street level; the bathroom is on the same floor and the kitchen/living room/diner are lower ground.
Jacqui has her own office at home and so a lodger could potentially use the dining table for work, including calls, although use of headphones would be preferred, as would only occasional days working from home rather than all week every week.
Rent includes a weekly cleaner as well as bills.
We are a professional couple (Jacqui is a book editor; Jonathan is an artist) and our house is comfortable, spacious and quiet, with semi-open-plan living/dining/kitchen space and a private back garden. It is a non-smoking house (inc the garden) and there’s one shared bathroom.
Lots of mod cons and other useful things including dishwasher, washing machine, ceiling-mounted clothes dryer, microwave, juicer, coffee paraphernalia, fast fibre Wi-Fi, good sound system.
Jacqui works from home exclusively, Jonathan occasionally.
The lifestyle of the flat is pretty quiet; most weekday evenings are about dinner and TV or reading! We both tend to go out to meet friends rather than have people over. If you’d rather keep yourself to yourself, or you work long hours and won’t be around much, that’s fine, but we’re equally very happy to share meals and/or a conversation and a cuppa sometimes, and sit down together to watch some trash TV (or, of course, a quality doc or drama…).
Our street is residential and pretty quiet. Stoke Newington is in Zone 2 and is a lovely villagey area with many independent shops and cafes, good greengrocers, several supermarkets, pretty parks and excellent transport links.
The nearest transport is Stoke Newington (Weaver Line on the Overground) a few minutes’ walk away, which takes you to Seven Sisters for the Victoria line (about 5 minutes) and Liverpool Street for the City and the Central Line (about 13 minutes). There are buses to the City, Islington, Dalston/Shoreditch, Hackney, Camden and Oxford Circus.
There is on-street parking, for which you’d need to buy a permit.
Happy to discuss fewer nights per week/month for correspondingly lower rent.
