Beautiful room to rent in a warm family home with a shared kitchen and lot of communal outdoor space. The room is spacious (with a double bed, desk, wardrobe, drawers, 2 big windows) and looks out on the beautiful gardens. It would suit someone who can appreciate the context of a family home. We are open for flexible arrangements including week-only stays (reduced rent) or looking after the children from time to time (reduced rent).
You will mainly share the house with me (she/they, queer woman), 4 small children (3, 5, 8 and 11 years old) and in some periods the kids’ father (who lives and works abroad). We are vegetarians; and prefer our housemate to be vegetarian as well. I work as a lecturer in Political Ecology and Environmental Justice at one of the London Universities.
We are looking for a lodger who is looking for a warm cosy family atmosphere, and can appreciate the context of living with children. In practice that means that we expect the house to be mostly relatively quiet between 7 pm in the evening and 7 am in the morning (e.g. no loud music), and silent at night time (11pm-7am).
Next to your own private bedroom, you have access to a shared kitchen and 2 shared bathrooms (one with a toilet and washbasin and one with a toilet, washbasing and bath/shower). The neighbourhood is very leafy and quiet, though also very close to bustling Camberwell, Peckham and Brixton.
We prefer to share with someone who self-identifies as female, non-binary, queer and has progressive/leftist values. But please feel free to contact if you do not fit into these categories as these aren’t rigid exclusionary criteria.
Water, tv license, council tax, electricity and internet are included in the bills, but heating is not (as it depends on usage). The room has double glazed windows and gas costs tend to be low. We can also do 1050pounds/month everything included if you prefer this.
