THE APARTMENT: This 1930’s Spanish style townhouse has lots of charm. The main room is surrounded by a painted tile fireplace along one wall, stained glass windows over a tile staircase with wrought iron handrails leading to the bedrooms, and two huge picture windows looking out onto the courtyard garden. The floors are hardwood throughout. There is a dishwasher, laundry facilities in the basement and the entry is gated. Upstairs, the available bedroom is bright and airy with windows overlooking the courtyard, and a walk in closet.
THE AREA: The apartment is in Mid-Wilshire, a very central location, on the border of Koreatown and Hancock Park, just south of Hollywood, west of downtown and not far from the 10, the 110 and the 101 freeways. We’re in-between several neighborhoods, so the area offers a range of experiences. A couple of miles to the west is Miracle-Mile and LACMA (LA County Museum of Art), and the La Brea Tar Pits connected by a surrounding Park. Just north of there is The Grove, an outdoor shopping area with a Farmers Market, restaurants, and shops. A 10-15 minute drive away are 2 Trader Joe’s between The Grove and home. Just north of here is Hancock Park, an affluent residential area, which is a great for running, walking or biking. It’s a 20 min walk to Larchmont Village in Hancock Park, a shopping strip with cafes, restaurants, boutiques, banks, a drugstore and a Farmer’s Market on Sundays. Eastward is Koreatown, which is also historic old Hollywood with tall buildings, Art Deco and Spanish architecture. We are just a couple of blocks from The Wiltern, a historic theater/concert venue. Adjacent to that is Ralphs Supermarket, CVS Drugstore, and the subway entrance to downtown where there are museums and theaters like The Broad, MOCA, Redcat, Disney Concert Hall, LA Opera, as well as the The Arts District, China Town, Little Tokyo, and plenty of other cool things to do.
